Called Bandon-by-the-Sea. This Oregon coast town will delight you with its charm. It is located on the Southern Oregon Coast at the mouth of the Coquille River. Bandon Oregon is 90 miles north of the California border and is approximately a 90 minute drive to Interstate 5 at Roseburg. It is home to two of the world’s premier golf courses and the Bandon Cheese factory

The Bandon Lighthouse – officially the Coquille River Lighthouse – was built in 1896, decommissioned in 1939, and is the subject of a major restoration effort today.
The lighthouse sits at the mouth of the Coquille River, where it has weathered extraordinary storms and guided mariners in and out of Bandon, over the treacherous Bandon Bar.

The Bandon Lighthouse may be reached through Bullard’s Beach State Park, the entrance of which is just past the north end of the Coquille River bridge on U.S. 101.
During the summer, volunteers staff the lighthouse information center and gift shop and answer questions, they describe life as a lighthouse keeper, and take visitors to the top of the tower.

The Bandon Lighthouse is now maintained by Bullard’s Beach State Park, which is leading the restoration effort. Those interested in helping restore this symbol of Bandon may contact the park (at 541-347-2209) or by calling (at 541-347-9616) or sending an e-mail to the Chamber, for information on the Chamber’s Mike Vickrey Memorial Lighthouse Restoration Fund.
